Features

This module creates a blog homepage that lists all published blog posts from newest to oldest. Each blog post contains a cover image, title and date. If configured, it may also contain the author, comment count and a summary. There is also an option to add welcome text to the top of the blog homepage.

Multilanguage and Multishop Support

Blog posts, categories and tags can be written in multiple languages. The module includes translations for over 50 languages and includes localized date formats. It also supports multiple shops.

Friendly URLs and SEO Optimization

The module supports friendly URLs without IDs to create clean URLs for blog posts, archives, authors, categories, tags and search. For example, /blog/2018/12/25/merry-christmas and /blog/category/deals/christmas and /blog/tag/christmas. Blog categories and posts also have options to enter a meta title, a meta description and meta keywords for search engine optimization. Finally, the module uses structured data to improve the display of Google listings.

Blog Categories

Blog categories can be configured with multiple levels and there is no limit on the number of categories. Blog posts can be associated with multiple categories, which are displayed at the top of the blog posts. An expandable list of all blog categories can be displayed in a block, which allows customers to filter blog posts by category. A description can also be added to the top of blog category pages.

Blog Tags

Blog tags can also be configured. Multiple tags can be assigned while editing a blog post, which are displayed at the top of blog posts. When editing a tag, a single tag can be assigned to many blog posts without needing to edit each post individually. A tag cloud with more common tags in a larger font can also be displayed, which allows customers to filter blog posts by tag.

Blog Authors

Blog posts can be written by different authors. The displayed author can be configured as the employee's name, the shop name, or not at all. The author of a blog post can be changed after it has been created. A list of authors can also be displayed in a block, allowing customers to filter blog posts by author.

Cover Images

Each blog post can have a cover image that is displayed at the top of the blog post and on listing pages. The cover image is automatically resized to optimize bandwidth usage. Thumbnails can be cropped from the top, center, bottom, left or right. Uncropped thumbnails have padding added.

Blog Post Scheduling

Blog posts can be scheduled to be published in the future by entering a date and time as the publish date. The post will then automatically become visible on the website at the specified time. The publish date can be changed to any time in the past or future.

Blog Post Status and Visibility

A blog post can be specified as a draft, pending review, or published. Only blog posts marked as published will appear on the blog, even when the publish date is reached. There is also an option to set a blog post as private, so it can only be viewed by employees.

Sticky Blog Posts

It is possible to set a blog post as sticky, which makes it appear at the top of listings, even when there are newer posts available. This is useful when a blog post is important or it is an advertisement, so it should always be seen.

Blog Blocks

There are many blog blocks included with the module. By default, a block with recent posts is displayed on the homepage. In the left column, there is a blog search block, an archive block with monthly links, a calendar block to browse blog posts by date, a blog author block, a blog categories block, and a blog tag cloud block.

Blog Search

By default, the module search lists blog posts with any of the search keywords in the blog title, or an exact match in the summary or content. The title, summary and content can each be set to "Don't search" to exclude them from search results, "All keywords" to require every search keyword to match, "Any keywords" to only require one of the search keywords to match, or "Exact string" to require the entire search string to match.

Disqus Comments with Akismet

There is an option to add Disqus comments with Akismet spam protection to blog posts. A single Disqus forum can be used for all languages or multiple forums can be used to separate comments by language to make them easier to manage.

Blog Preferences

There are options to configure the number of posts per page and whether the show the breadcrumb on blog pages. The blog CSS can also be customized from the preferences page without needing to manually edit the CSS file.

Social Buttons

There is an option to choose which social buttons to display on blog posts to make it easy for customers to share posts on Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest and Google+.

Image/Video Gallery Compatible

When used together with our Image/Video Gallery module, gallery blocks can be added to blog posts to make it easy for customers to browse images and videos using an attractive, touch-friendly interface.

Import/Export

Blog categories, posts, tags and blocks can be exported to a CSV file and imported from CSV files. This can be used to back up and restore the blog and transfer it between PrestaShop websites.

Recommendations

Note that the friendly URLs of categories, tags and posts must be unique for the links to work, since there is no number in the URL to distinguish between identical friendly URLs.
